About Us

Rathduff National School is situated just off the Mallow Road approximately 17km from Cork City. We are a co-ed school  under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Cloyne catering for the pupils of Rathduff/Grenagh and the surrounding areas. There are currently 305 pupils attending the school with a staff of 21 teachers and 9 SNA’s. Our school has grown substantially in recent years and is expected to continue to grow. In recent years several classrooms and a state of the art sports hall have been added to the school. We recently have received funding from the Department of Education to build a further extension comprising of 2 more classrooms and a full ASD unit.

The school has recently achieved its 4th  “Green Flag” and first “Active Flag”. We have received the award for “Science and Maths Excellence” for the past number of years and last year received the award of “Digital School of Distinction”.

The school participates annually in the “Sciath na Scol” competitions and has done extremely well in recent years winning both boys and girls competitions. Pupils from 3rd to 6th class attend swimming lessons annually in “Leisureworld” Churchfield. Gymnastics lessons are held in school for all classes each year and this year a further dance module will also be provided.  Speech & Drama lessons are held each week and spectacular Christmas plays are put on every second year. On alternate years the infant classes perform in “ Cór Fhéile na Scol” in City Hall Cork. After School music lessons and French classes are also provided by our wonderful Parents Association.
